BUYER'S QUESTIONAIRE
(562) 243-5325
Use this questionaire to help yourself help your agent in
your purchase transaction. The questionaire covers items
you may feel you know the answers to right away, and
others where you find you may have some discussions
remaining with your spouse!! It is best to put this at
ease right away, and will help your agent find you the
best properties to look at. The home you are searching
for is out there right now, even as you read this, and
anything you can do to assist your agent in the search
will save you time in the long run.
- Do you have a specific time frame in mind for
this purchase?
- Have you started your search already? If so, how
many properties have you seen inside and out?
- Have you contacted a real estate agent regarding
any specific property?
- What are your specific reasons for buying a home?
These questions are here to make you think
very hard about your motivations, and how serious
you are about buying NOW. If you are not buying
now, you should NOT be looking now. The market is
excellent for buyers, and, if you're serious, you
will find the right home, so don't look unless
you're ready.
- Is there anything keeping you from buying a house
right now? (i.e. job relocation, kids in school,
credit issues to resolve, sale of your current
home, lack of down payment money, etc)
- When is the best time for you to work on your
home search? Weekends only, after work hours, one
day a week dedicated to the search?
- Can you dedicate five hours a week to this
search?
Again, these are further refinements
to your real need to buy now. If these appear to
be positive answers so far, then go on to the
next questions. Otherwise, stop here. You aren't
ready to buy a home yet.
- Have you selected a favorite area to live in?
Specific neighborhood with street boundaries? Or,
are you open to a variety of locations?
- Are there any special requirements in the home
you will ultimately purchase? Hobby rooms, extra
storage areas, large yard, pool?
- Are there any specific architectural
requirements? Styles to avoid?
- Do you want a house in perfect condition? Would
you prefer a home that needs a little work, if
you could save some money in the purchase price?
Is it even desirable to need major repairs for a
very low price?
Ammenities: 2 Bedroom, 3
Bedroom, 4 (or more) Bedroom, 2 Baths, Den,
Family Room, Formal Dining Room, Efficient
Kitchen, Large Kitchen, Inside Laundry, 2 Car
Garage, 3 (or more) Car Garage, Fireplace, Pool,
Spa, Views.
- My home will be REQUIRED to have the following
(from above list):
- My home really should have the following (from
above list):
- It would be nice if we could have the
following(from above list):
These questions
were to get you to think about the specifics of
the home you want and the area you want to live
in.
- Amount available for downpayment today.
- Source of downpayment monies. Readily accessible?
Is there a waiting period on a fund before
gaining access to the monies?
- Regardless of what the lender tells you that you
can afford, what are the sizes of payments you
would be comfortable with each month?
- Have you looked at your credit report lately?
Many issues are easily resolved, but some will
take time. What do you know about specific items?
- Is there anything else that will help my real
estate agent in finding the best properties for
me to look at?
That's the end of this
questionaire. It was designed to be a starting
point and has most likely brought up some issues
for discussion, some things were readily known,
and hopefully, it was worthwhile for you!
