There are several large companies in the home protection plan business. All of the plans are different, and must be read thoroughly to understand what is and what is not covered. A smart real estate agent will never select your plan for you, but provide you with several options and a phone book, ask you to pick one, and then write it in your purchase offer. A smart agent representing a seller will always write "buyer's choice" if offering a home protection policy as part of their offer. Never select it for the buyer; that is asking to be sued. Lastly, don't expect these policies to perform all that well. Many items are not covered. It is best to get a very thorough inspection, and understand what you are buying. Just our observation.
